The Island Dairies (Pvt) Ltd. was begun as a small yoghurt production project by the former chairman, Mr. Karunarathna Liyanage in 1984. Although it was a small project, we were able to become an operational giant in the Sri Lankan industry by providing a range of products, including nutritious dairy products, to consumers in accordance with ISO standards.

The reason Island Dairy has come up in the industry as of today is our unstoppable efforts and commitment, which we have done as much as our best as one team and one family. I was able to use my educational knowledge, which I have gained from higher education at Kingswood College Kandy and a Business Management Degree from the Australian Management School, to bring this business beyond Sri Lanka. Additionally, my doctoral studies have played a crucial role in advancing the success of our organization at this stage. I was able to gain practical business knowledge during my business visits to Japan, Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland, and the Netherlands, which are famous for dairy manufacturing establishments and helped me develop my business.

I am happy to say that I am capable of facing any kind of challenge that remains and standing up beyond a dynamic business working environment since I have a talented group of employees who are working with me. And so on, the ISO quality standard certificates we obtained as well as many high awards such as the best milk processor’s awards and Golden Lion awards also contributed to this journey, and this encourages us to move forward. Even though we had yogurt production at the beginning of our journey, we currently produce more than 40 varieties of dairy products, and we are proudly saying that we are producing dairy products for well-reputed market leaders in the industry like Arpico and Keells. Finally, I would like to express my thanks to all our end customers who have supported and encouraged us in this journey.
